First of all, please introduce yourself!
「みなさん、はじめまして！「Kamochiruu」と申しますが、「Kamo」と呼んでもいいですよ。繊細で複雑なダークキャラクターを描くのが好きなフリーランスのイラストレーターです。よろしくお願いいたします！
Hello, it's great to meet you all! My name is "Kamochiruu" but you can call me Kamo. I'm a freelance illustrator who loves drawing intricate and dark characters」
―― Kamo先生はいつから絵の勉強をしているのですか？ 絵を習い始めたきっかけは何ですか？
How long have you been learning to draw? What motivated you to start drawing?
「物心ついたときから絵を描くのが好きでした。そして真剣に絵を描く方法を模索し始めたのは、一生懸命やれば絵でキャリアを積めることに気づいたからです。そして、美術的な趣味を仕事にできるのはとても光栄なことで、毎日好きなことを仕事にできるのは嬉しい限りです。しかし、私の住んでいるところでは、アニメの絵柄は美術のプロには評価されていません。ですから、インターネットで自分の作品を世界中の人に見てもらうチャンスを見つけなければならないのです。
As a kid, I loved to draw for as long as I can remember. I taught myself how to draw more seriously when I realized it's possible to make a career from drawing if I work hard enough. Being able to transform my art hobby into my job is an honor, and I am very happy to do what I love every day. Where I live, anime art styles are not appreciated professionally, so I have to find my success online where my art can reach people around the world」
―― Kamo先生が絵を描くときに一番気をつけている点はなんですか？
What's the point that you most attention to when you are drawing?
「絵を描くとき、色に一番気を遣います。私は深みのある情熱的な色の組み合わせを使うのが好きです。それらをうまくブレンドして、異なる雰囲気の調和したイラストを作ることができます。例えば、ダーク系イラストには、青や黒を使うことが多いですね。一方、ポジ系のイラストには、ピンクと白が使われています。
I focus most on the colors when I'm drawing. I love to use deep and passionate color palettes that blend well together to create harmonious illustrations with different moods. For dark illustrations, I often use blues and blacks, and for positive illustrations, I use pinks and whites」
―― これまでで一番満足しているオリキャラについて教えてください！ どのような設定やストーリーになっているのでしょうか？
Tell us about your most satisfied OC! What kind of personality and story does he or she have?
「今までで一番お気に入りのオリキャラはAeden（エーディン）です。彼は、野望を抱く不安定なカルト教団の教主です。普段は偽物の修道女に扮しています。スパイラル・アイとポイズン・ネクター・ドリンクで人の心を操ることができるのですが、今のところあまりうまくいっていません。彼の白黒の配色がイラストにしやすいと思います。
My favorite OC currently is Aeden. He is an unstable aspiring cult leader wearing fake nun clothing. He is able to influence and control minds using his spiral eyes and poison nectar drink but hasn't been very successful so far. I think his monochrome color scheme is easy to create illustrations with」

You seem to be a big goth fan, can you tell us how you developed your style? What kind of art information or media usually inspires you?
「ゴシック、ダーク、バロック、ヴィクトリアンスタイルのアート、ファッション、建築作品は私の最大のインスピレーションの源泉です。自分のスタイルを確立するために、絵を描くときはいつもこれらのスタイルの参考写真をたくさん持っていて、自分の作品がどのように形づくられているかを思い出すのに役立っています。また、おとぎ話、ギリシャ神話やホラー小説なども見たりして、オリキャラの創作物の多くはこれらの内容からヒントを得ています。
Gothic, dark, baroque, and victorian styles in art, fashion, and architecture are my biggest inspirations. When developing my style, I always kept many photo references of these styles to look at while drawing to help me remember my goals. And favorite media like fairytales, Greek mythology, and horror, most of my OCs are inspired by these」
―― イラストの他に、日常生活の中でゴシック的な要素につながる部分はありますか？
Besides illustrations, are there any other parts of your daily life that are linked to Gothic elements?
「ゴシックなダーク系の衣装やプラットフォームシューズが好きでたくさん持っていますし、クロミやグルーミーなど、ゴシック系のかわいいぬいぐるみをお部屋に飾るのも大好きです。個人的には、ゴシックな要素に囲まれることで、自分自身と作品の（栄養補給）がうまくいくんです（笑）。
I love to wear a lot of gothic dark clothing and platform shoes, as well as decorate my room with cute gothic mascots like Kuromi and Gloomy Bear. Surrounding myself with gothic elements helps me develop myself and my artwork a lot better」
―― Kamo先生が作成したlive2Dキャラクターについて教えてください！ また、VTuberについてどう思われますか？
Can you please introduce the live2D character you created? What do you think of VTuber?
「VTuberにとても興味があります。なぜなら、VTuberはどんなキャラクターにもなれるし、現実にはありえないファンタジーのキャラクターにもなれるからです。これまで、Snuffy（スナフキン）のデスモデルなど、Live2Dのモデルを数多く描いてきました。現在もVtuberモデルの制作を続けており、近日中にリリースしたいと思います。今後も楽しみにしていてください！
I'm interested in VTubers since the streamer can become any character they want, even fantasy characters that aren't possible in real life. So far I've drawn many Live2D models such as Snuffy's reaper model. Many more VTubers are in process and will hopefully be released soon, please look forward to them!」
―― Kamo先生が好きなVTuberのキャラクターとその理由についてお聞かせください
Please talk about your favorite VTuber characters and why?
「私はなかなか暇がなくてVtuberをたくさん見ることができないのですが、VShojoの女の子たちは本当に好きです！ 彼女たちのストリームや人柄はとても素晴らしく、見ていて心を和ませてくれます。
I don't have the free time to watch many VTubers, but I really like the girls from Vshojo! Their streams and personalities are very fun and comforting」
―― たまには、他のスタイルを試したくなることもあるのでしょうか？ もしそうなら、どのようなスタイルに挑戦してみたいですか？
Sometimes do you wish to try any other style? What style will it be?
「チャンスがあれば、普段のきれいで細かい絵とは違い、ラフで絵画的な絵をもっと描いてみたいと思っています。
I want to try drawing more art in a rough and painterly style as opposed to my normally clean and detailed work」
―― Kamo先生は、これまでの創作活動の中で、忘れられない体験がありますか？
What experiences have been unforgettable for you in your artistic career?
「最も忘れられない経験は、オンライン授業プラットフォーム「Class101」で美術の授業を作ったことです。デッサンの授業を録画したり、自分の美術技術を教えたりするのは初めてだったので、かなりの挑戦でした。しかし、それがうまくいって、多くの生徒がこの授業から知識を得ることができたのでほっとしています。それ以外にも、クライアントからプロジェクトのアーティストとして依頼されるたびに、正直なところ、今でも刺激を受けています。これからもたくさんの忘れられない体験が生まれそうなので、日々楽しみにしています。
The most unforgettable experience in my artistic career so far was creating my art class on Class101. I've never tried to record drawing lessons or teach my art skills before so it was quite a challenge, but I'm relieved it turned out well and that so many students could benefit from it. Besides that, I am honestly still in shock each time a client contacts me asking me to be an artist for their project. I feel that there are many more experiences to be made and I look forward to them every day」

Can you talk about artists and works that you respect? Why?
「私は@obstetrician_Mさんの造形スタイルにとても感心しています。誇張された体のプロポーション、不気味だが魅力的な彫刻やテーマに畏敬の念を抱いています。恐怖と精緻な美しさを融合させ、ユニークな作品を生み出す彼の才能に憧れます。
I really admire the sculpting style of @obstetrician_M. The exaggerated body proportions and the creepy but mesmerizing nature of the sculpts and themes put me in awe. I respect the ability to combine horror with delicate beauty to create artwork that is so unique」
―― Kamo先生、好きな日本のアニメ、マンガ、映画、ゲームなどを教えてください
Can you share with us your favorite Japanese anime, comic, movie, or game?
「好きなアニメは『黒執事』と『ブラック★ロックシューター』です。なぜなら、それらが子供の頃にアニメというジャンルを描くことに興味を持った理由だからです。その要素は、今でも私の作品の中に見られると思います。好きなゲームは『ゼルダの伝説』シリーズ（『時のオカリナ』や『ブレス オブ ザ ワイルド』）と『新・光神話 パルテナの鏡』などの任天堂のゲームです。また、『初音ミク Project Diva』シリーズも好きです。
My favorite series are Kuroshitsuji and Black Rock Shooter since these were what got me interested in drawing anime style in my childhood. I think the influence of those can still be seen in my art today. My favorite games are Nintendo games like “The Legend of Zelda” ("Ocarina of Time" and "Breath of the Wild"), as well as "Kid Icarus Uprising". I also love the Hatsune Miku Project Diva games」

Tell us what figure(toys) brand and their works you are interested in!
「フィギュアのモデルには、「グッドスマイルカンパニー」というブランドを愛用しています。スケールモデルの品質が高く、種類も豊富だからです。私のコレクションのほとんどは同社の製品で、次に何が発売されるのかいつも楽しみにしています。BJDだと「RINGDOLL」というブランドが好きです。人形のデザインや顔のメイクがとても気に入っています。
For figures, I like the Good Smile Company brand since their scale figures are such high quality with so much variety. Most of the figures in my collection are from them and I'm always excited to see what they will release next. For BJDs, I love the brand RingDoll because of their quirky doll designs and lovely face makeup」
―― 今後の作品やキャリアについて、Kamo先生はどのようにお考えですか？
What are your plans for your creations or career in the future?
「今のところ、VTuberのモデル制作と商業イラストの仕事を続けていく予定ですが、クールな依頼はいつでも受け付けています。また、未知の世界での新しい刺激的なチャンスを楽しみにしています。
Currently, I plan to continue making VTuber models and commercial illustrations. Though I am always open to accepting cool projects that are offered to me; it's exciting to look forward to new unseen opportunities」
―― これまでに携わったビジネスプロジェクトについて教えてください
Would you mind telling us about the business projects that you had joined in?
「私はClass101でグローバルなアートクラスを作りました。そのClass101アートクラスでは、美しいイラストを作成するための私の独自の描き方を教え、最初から最後まですべてのステップを共有しています。初心者の方でも、新しいテクニックを学びたい方でも、大歓迎です！
また、ポスター、キーホルダー、ステッカー、ポストカードなどのグッズをオンラインやアニメコンベンションで販売しています。

If your work were to be commercialized, what kind of goods would you like it to attempt?
「自分の作品やオリジナルキャラクターをフィギュア化することが最大の目標です。また、これまでのベストドローイングを集めた画集を出版したいと思っています。
It is my biggest goal to have my artwork or characters made into anime figures. I also want to publish an art book with all my best drawings in it sometime in my career」
